When talking to people about the trip one of my main takeaways was the difference in the distilleries. Where in Kentucky they were mostly the same, the difference in Scotland was cool to see. Islay was rustic and utilitarian, Oban was a little more refined but nothing fancy, and the "big names" in Speyside were their own little Disneyland.
