I attended the Aspen Institute conference on Climate in Miami this week. It was just a bunch of PR execs from Deloitte, BoA, Goldman Sachs, and others talking about how they’re investing in “eco friendly” fuels and yadda yadda. Even Kamala Harris was there spewing the same scripted jibberish.
The pattern is the same: when you set a goal, the incentive becomes to hit the goal, not to achieve the actual result the goal is trying to represent.

That actually has a name - it's called Goodhart's Law: "When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure."
